In the October 2010 issue of Magazine, I share with you the steps in my thinking and process as I develop a textured tree drawing from the initial sketch to the outline drawing to the finished piece, Old Hickory (pencil, 11×14), shown below.
In the first step in my demonstration I did a final outline drawing on Strathmore bristol plate-finish (smooth) paper (shown below). I made the lines darker than I ordinarily would, so you can see them.
I view copying as an excellent way to learn and practice drawing (and painting) techniques, so I invite you to copy any or all my drawings in my books and magazine articles.
